HP Laser Jet P2055

I have just upgraded my Microsoft Surface laptop to the latest Surface Pro 12in 1st Ed with Snapdragon ARM64 processor Model 2110 and I am trying to install my Laser Jet P2055 printer.

It worked well on my previous Surface with the the HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 (64-bit) driver but sadly I can't down load the same driver with an error message:

"Operation could not be completed (error 0x800f0214)

The specified path does not contain any applicable device INFs."

Does HP have a driver that will work and can be downloaded does anyone know?

Hello ChrisM29,

Thank you for posting your concern,

The error message you're encountering indicates that there might be a compatibility issue between the HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) and the ARM64 architecture of your new Surface Pro device. Here are a few steps you can consider to address this problem:

Steps to Resolve Printer Compatibility Issues

  1. Check for ARM64 Compatible Drivers:

    • HP might not yet officially support ARM64 architecture for certain older printer models like the LaserJet P2055. You can check HP's support website for any specific drivers available for ARM64 devices.
  2. Universal Print Driver Alternatives:

    • Consider using the Microsoft Windows Update feature to locate and install a compatible driver. Windows 10/11 can often auto-detect and install necessary drivers for many printers.
  3. Using Windows Built-in Drivers:

    • Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, and right-click on your printer to see if you can add it using the built-in "Microsoft IPP Class Driver" or any other available generic drivers.
  4. Try a Different Printing Protocol:

    • If your printer supports it, try using a different printing protocol such as the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) or Microsoft’s new Universal Print, which might be compatible with Windows ARM devices.
  5. Cloud-based Printing Solutions:

    • Consider using cloud-printing solutions if direct printing is not feasible. Use services that can bridge between older printer models and modern devices via cloud services.
  6. Contact HP Support:

    • For specific guidance, reach out to HP support for help, who may offer alternative solutions or suggestions tailored to your situation.

These are some potential solutions until any further official support becomes available for ARM64 devices from HP for legacy printers like the LaserJet P2055.
