Dear HP Expert,

I have been offered a HP printer, MFP M681z, with under 10 000 copies but out of warranty /Maintenance. It does need 2 toners which I have to purchase. The asking price is 15 000 ZAR which is considerably cheaper than a new one. I just need help on whether I should purchase this printer. I'm not sure if HP will sell me a new maintenance contract given the low number of copies. Thanks for your help with this.

This is a user to user forum here and no one can really predict if a contract would be available. I would suggest that you contact a local shop that sells and services HP to see if they will offer any type of contract. I suggest that you talk to them first before you purchase any cartridges as programs like HP SMP are based on you purchasing your supplies from the dealer that is providing the contract to qualify for special pricing.

In my opinion, the price should be considerably less as this is an old model and has been replaced with the X6700 series.

Thanks for the swift reply to my inquiry and for the valuable advice that you have offered. I will look at both aspects -checking with a local dealer regarding a contract and negotiating a much better price with the seller. Best wishes for the Festive Season.
