My printer is an HPLaserjet P1102w and it is repeatedly telling me it's blocked by admin.  I tried the command prompt fix mentioned above to no avail. It keeps telling me on setup to connect usb cable and I have. It won't go past that screen on install. Very frustrating. I have windows 10 on the computer.

Note that starting a new thread and referring to the thread above provides no information. Are you getting the blocked by admin message on the screen of your computer? If so then likely you do not have administrative rights to install printers, which is possible if you are in a business environment and personal printers are not allowed. If you are in a business environment you will need to contact your IT support staff to install the printer for you.

This is my personal home computer, and I am definitely the admin as I am the only one on the computer. I set up the net user administrator through the command prompt on my laptop instead and was able to finally install the printer through USB utilizing this "false" admin and then did the wireless configuration. It is now set up as a network printer through my laptop instead of the desktop computer which is connected by ethernet cable. I just gave up on trying to set it up on the desktop computer. Thank you for your response though.
