Hi @NCAD,
Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for the First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I see from the post that you have lost the admin password for your HP LaserJet Printer and you want to reset the printer settings. I'll be really glad to help you with this,
Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector
Please perform a Hard reset on the printer.
* With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
* Remove USB cable, if present.
* Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
* Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
* Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
* Now check if it works.
Next thing, I would suggest is to perform an advanced reset on the printer.
I can send you that information in a private message.
Please check your Private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile,
Next, to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
Please reply back on the public post as this Private message box is not monitored.
I hope this helps resolve this issue completely,

I forgot the password for HP LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw printer and I'm unable to make the necessary configuration.
I have followed the above steps but it's still not working so I think advanced resetting will come in handy.

I have the same problem. I need help in Resetting Administrator Password on M225dw, preferably on the advanced level. The setup or service icon in control panel doesn't give me the option to change or reset settings, it goes straight to password input. Our administrator left without the password being given to us, thus I need to remove the password to be able to setup the printer.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
We'll have to perform a reset on the Printer for this. I have sent you a private message, for more details that cannot be shared in a public post.
Please do check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
