HP Recommended

Hello,

We purchased HP 973X genuine cartridges for a PageWide Pro MFP 577dw.
The printer was originally configured for HP 976Y, and the regional restriction was unknown at purchase.

The device works correctly; the issue appears to be regional configuration only.
Is there an official HP solution (one-time region change) to allow the use of 973X cartridges?

Serial number and cartridge details available.

Kind regards,

@tomatito, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP PageWide Pro 577dw printer.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

HP printers generally come with regional configurations that restrict cartridge compatibility based on region codes. If your PageWide Pro MFP 577dw printer was initially set up to use HP 976Y cartridges, and you have purchased HP 973X cartridges, they may not be recognized due to these settings.

Here is what you can do:

Contact HP Support for Region Code Change

  1. Reach out to HP Support: To potentially have the region code changed, contact HP Customer Support directly. A representative may be able to guide you through the process of resetting the region code for your printer, allowing your new cartridges to be compatible.

  2. Visit the HP Support website: Use the following link to locate the appropriate contact method or fill out a support request: HP Support Contact.

  3. Provide necessary details: When contacting HP, make sure to provide information about your printer model, the cartridge numbers, and your existing regional setup.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
