Hi, lately my printer (HP 2300dtn) has paperjammed very regularly. After removing the paper it works "jam free" for a certain amount of time, but then again paper gets stuck. I can't seem to find a reason for this and the FAQ of HP can't help me either.
What can I do?

Hi remcopeters1989,
Have you tried to clean the pickup rollers and the rollers in general along the paper path ?
If the rollers have lost their grip completely then it is time to replace them with new ones (maintenance kit).
Have you found out when the jam occurs (eg. after 5,10, ... pages. only when duplexing or both at simplex or duplex mode) ?
Have you set up the correct tray settings and are the tray guides set accordingly ?
Do you use the correct paper size and type that is what you have set up in tray settings ?

Hi, thank you for your quick reply.
No, I haven't tried anything because I don't know how. I just went straight to this forum for some expert advise.
The jam occurs at simplex and duplex mode.
I believe I've set up the correct tray settings and believe the tray guides are also set accordingly.
Paper is standard printingpaper and size is A4. That is also what I've set in the tray settings as far as I can see.
Is there some kind of instructions on how to clean the pickup rollers and the rollers in general along the paper path?
Where can I get the maintenance kit?

I have found this video on youtube:

If the problem persists after cleaning the rollers (clean them with a damp lint free cloth), check them if they have any grip.
If not (which means their surface if very smooth), then it worths replacing them.
You may google on the internet, something like "hp 2300 paper feed maintenance kit" or "hp 2300 rollers kit".
I hope this will help you,
Cheers!

Hi.
There is possibly a cheaper solution.
If the print quality is still good, I'd suggest trying to simply replace the tray #2 pickup roller. The part number is rb2-6304-000cn. This roller is contained in the maintenance kit, but it can be ordered separately.
I Googled it, and came up with this:
When people complain about paper jams on the LJ 2300, this is usually the cause.
Good luck!

Printquality is not a problem at all...printquality is good.
Will replacing the tray #2 pickup roller also solve the problem for the additional tray #3?
The paper jams in the uppersection of the printer (there where the cartridge is). When a jam occurs one papersheet is stuck in the part where it comes out of the printer (on top) and one papersheet is stuck right where it enters the "cartridge room".

Hi.
I didn't realize you had a 3rd tray on this machine.
The pickup roller is the same on tray 2 and 3.
Does your printer jam with the same frequency from either tray #2 or tray #3, or does it jam more from one of the trays than the other?

Well, we almost always print from tray 3 and rarely from tray 2. I've got no complaints on tray 2 so far. But to be sure I can always replace the rollers on both tray 2 and tray 3.
But, what I am wondering is if replacing these rollers will solve the problem as the paper doesn't get stuck IN the tray, but in the "cartridge room" and in the "output" on top.

Possibly. Probably. It's difficult to say for sure without actually being in front of the printer when it jams, but here's my hypothesis:
If you're printing a multiple page document (say, three pages), and the printer BARELY manages to pick up the first two, but fails to pick up the third due to a slick pickup roller, The printer will throw a "paper jam" error even though the actual failure was an inability to pick up the third page. The result in this case would be 2 pages stopped at various points inside the printer. Bear in mind that this isn't the ONLY cause of the problem you're seeing, but it's the most likely, and it's where I'd start if this were my printer.
Good Luck!

P.S.
On the 2300, you can often hear the machine struggling to pick up a page from the tray. You'll hear the pickup roller "click around" once or twice before you actually hear the paper being pulled in. If you can hear that, chances are high that you have a bad pickup roller.
