What are the steps to clear the maintenance kit counter on a M608 LaserJet printer?

This model uses what some refer to as a chipped fuser. When you install the new fuser (with power off) when you turn it on it resets the PM counter.

Genuine HP or 3rd party?  I will see if I can find any other instructions.

It came from another brand new m608... I did go ahead and swap the printer so the fire is out... no rush but I would like to know for future reference. Thank you for your assistance.

The chip is a one time thing, if you pulled it from another printer the chip was probably blown. Only works once.
