You can reset/clear the administrator password using the printer's Pre-boot Menu. A good service tech should be able to do this for you if you want.
M Series MFP and Touch screen display products
- Turn the printer ON.
- Press the HP logo in the middle of the screen when you see the “1/8” under the logo.
- Use the on-screen down arrow button to highlight Administrator and then press the OK button.
- Use the on-screen down arrow button to highlight Clear Password and then press the OK button.
Select the Clear Password item to remove a password from the Administrator menu. Before the password is actually cleared, a message will be shown asking to confirm that the password should be cleared. Press the OK button to confirm the action.
When the confirmation prompt displays, press the OK button to clear the password.
You could also try:
Reset factory settings from the printer control panel 1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, scroll to and touch the Administration button. 2. Open the following menus: ● General Settings ● Reset Factory Settings 3. A verification message advises that completing the reset function might result in loss of data. Select Reset to complete the process.
NOTE: The printer restarts automatically after the reset operation completes.
