M281FDW
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Laser Jet MFP M281fdw has suddenly started received a 'service error 79: turn on and off error.' After some troubleshooting, I found that this error only occurs when the printer is connected to the wifi. I have tried the troubleshooting steps below with no success:

- Turning on and off

- plugging directly into the wall and not into a surge protector

- resetting all printer settings to default

- disconnecting and reconnecting to the wi-fi

- unplugging router and printer both for 30 seconds

- resetting all network devices that are connected to the printer

- printing from multiple devices (a;; with no success)

- Connecting the printer via ethernet cable to a device and printing. (this was successful and allowed me to utilize the full functionality of the printer)

Any further suggestions?

THIS BELOW APPEARS TO BE THE CORRECT SOLUTION:

Below are the steps that you need to follow in the order as mentioned ...

Disconnect the printer from the NETWORK
If on wired network : Unplug the Ethernet cable from back of the printer.
If on wireless network : Power of the Wireless router. Turn off the printer.

Wait for 30 seconds. Turn on the printer.

If the printer is in READY state, on the printer front panel, go to Setup -> Network Setup -> Network Services -> IPv6 -> Off. Turn off the printer. Wait for 30 seconds and then turn on.

Try printing , it should work.
