Hi,

I've tried to print a document today and notice that my printer is giving me the supply memory error message, the printer was working faultlessly yesterday as it has for the past 12 months and 8 days.

I am using non original HP colour cartridges which have been working with no problems for the last 6 months and each are approximately half full. The black cartridge is a genuine HP cartridge and again is approximately half full. Each cartridge is showing up on the screen with a small ? next to it.

I have removed the toner cartridges from the printer, checked the printer, hard reset the printer  and tried everything suggested on your forums and am now losing my patience with the white box in the corner and looking for a solution to my problem that does not involve me paying exorbitant amounts for new HP toner (it'd be cheaper to buy a new printer!).

Many thanks

Darren

Try this:

With the printer powered ON.

Remove all the cartridges and leave the access door open.

Unplug the power cable from the printer and leave the power switch ON.

Wait about 1 minute, Plug power cable back in and let the printer power up.

After a couple of minutes close the access door. Wait for the printer to prompt you to install cartridges by color one at a time, closing the access door each time.

Hopefully that gets you going again. If you still have ? marks for the toners, there may be an issue the printer. If just one toner ?, then bad cartridge memory chip. Replace cartridge.

Thanks for your speedy reply, have tried the steps mentioned and no joy, still getting the same message and ? across all cartridges, even the genuine HP black one.

Losing my patience with it now, bought as a supposedly reliable printer and now 1 year and 8 days later it’s given up. Time to move to another manufacturer I think
