This problem, of which theres plenty of threads on and no real fix, is driving me nuts. Why is this so hard?

I have spent hours many times over about two years trying to get this working. I have had it working at one time, but it's very flakey and hit and miss. You sey up EXCATCLY the same settings and it refuses to work. Though this time, ah new firmware, (Nov 2018) it will be fixed and it will be easy. Nope and nope.

Has ANYONE got this to work??  If so please post a step by step instructions, most importanly where this falls over is the network adresss of the shared folder.

Wouldn't a 'browse' fuction be revolutionary to find the shared folder?

Alas, if only in 2018 computers could do that. Maybe one day.

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I understand you need support and I'll be glad to help you out. However, for an accurate solution, I would need more details:

What's the exact printer model?

Any error when you try to use scan to network feature?

Is the printer and Mac connected to your home WiFi?

Let me know!

I have tried both of the attached configurations, neither work.

The test was unsuccessful. Try again.

Any clues??  Yes, all the folder sharing stuff has been completed.  - No wifi involved, LAN.  Computer = fixed  IP address.

(I'm very familiar with the required settings, I've been trying to get this to work over many years with a couple of HP printers. *The second ip address version has worked before for a while a year or so ago- but refuses to now.)

Hi.

A few questions/things to think about.....

First of all, what is the exact model machine you're dealing with?

I noticed in the screenshots that there aren't any passwords filled in.  Why?

Can you post a screenshot of your folder sharing settings from system preferences?

Good luck!

Well,Scan_setup.jpg adding the comuter's name and password fixed it! (don't recall haveing to do that in the past however)

Any way, here's the setup - and it works.

The printer is a MPF M477fnw.  (non double sided printing, gggrrr...but that's a whole differant peave!)

Thanks for the help!

Andrew.
