Is there any way to set the driver default color setting to black and white rather than color?

I know how to change the setting for each document I wish to print, but I print almost everything in black and wish to set the driver up to always default to black so that I don't have to change the setting in Properties every time.

Thank you

Hi Ltaff,

I hate to hear you are having issues.  This can be set in preferences.  Please see the steps below.  If you would like more information about your product, Click Here

1. Go to printer and device folder

2. Right click on the device

3. Select printing preferences

4. On the quality tab, select the advanced button

5. Under features, find print in grayscale or black only

6. Click the text to populate the drop down

7. Select print in grayscale or black ink only

8. Click ok

9. On the preferences dialog box, select apply (this allows it to retain setting)

10. Then click ok

This seems to have worked. The steps were not quite accurate because you probably don't have my driver, but I got to where I needed to go and the black ink only option seems to be the default for all new documents.

Thanks

Is there a way to set the faxes to come in only black and white?  My mom uses her officejet 5746 as a fax only.  I have gone into settings, but I do not see anything there to default incoming faxes to black and white.  Thanks.
