Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After retiring a few years ago we added an HP Laserjet P2055dn printer to our Win 10 home network. It is HARD wired, not wireless or USB) We often got printer disconnects so we would power it off and check the paper and cartridge and power it back on to eventually work again.

However, a few weeks ago, it went off line and we could not get it back online.

So, I ...

1. Unstalled and reinstalled the driver and could initiate a test page that gave me just "Print Error" in the queue.

2. I then after trying everything I could find to resolve the issue, I reset the printer to factory defaults.

How, when I check the IP address it remains at 172.27.35.42, even though I set the BOOTP to yes. It was set on the 172... IP address prior to resetting back to the defaults..

And still not printing.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Likely a failed formatter. Do you get any activity lights on the back of the printer where the network card plugs in.

Yes, the RJ45 port is on (1 solid and 1 blinking).

I found out that the 172.27.35.42 address came from last being plugged in behind our ooma device.I have now moved it to connect behind the router.

I have now tried several other things.

1. Since I cannot find any tools to configure this printer on Win10, I used the control panel on the printer to set a static IP address (192.168.0.110, SM 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.0.1). But unfortunately I could not get the IP address recognized on the network using Advanced IP Scanner.

2. I then connect the printer to my laptop and was able to connect via the USB cable. But this is not a practical solution for us.

Any other ideas that I can try?

Thanks in advance!

Set the printer's network to DHCP instead, save and restart the printer. See what the IP address is assigned to it by your network. Go back in and set the IP address to static for the address that was assigned to it. Now set your computer's printer driver to match and see if that helps.
