Hello everyone,
I have problem with mine HP laser J m551 printer.
Printout in black are perfect .. just on any page with present color sharp hair line streaks in magenta appear on left side of printouts in different lengths but mostly 10 to 40 mm left side from top to bottom.
Looks like whenever color info in printout ate present those lines appears .. Black test printout is clean.
Replaced magenta cartridge, checked with another it unit, full calibration done .. still present issue.
On a event page present errors:
54.0F.01, 54.0F.01, 54.0F.02, 54.0F.03.
I don't want to influence to your opinion .. but for me only thing I can think about is problem with voltage to magenta unit assembly /laser .. So whenever there is no color signal some uncalibrated voltage is still getting on drum or laser is making streaks even with no signal.
Thanks in advance for any opinion which lead to move on further to possible solution.

That looks like a high. Voltage issue. Have you confirmed all the contacts are clean and the right shape to make contact with the cartridge? Have you changed any other cartridge recently? A bad cartridge can affect other colors.

Thanks for reply Repairatrooper,
I checked contacts on a back of cartridge neat and on cartridge itself .. compared contacts to one for yellow cartridge and they look in same way and same shape .. also tried another magenta and cleaned contacts on toner cartridge too. Also too out formatter and placed it back .. I disabled cartridge check and placed another cyan cartridge at same place where magenta is .. and I got a same just blue stripes .. That confirm that cartridges are ok just something wrong with magenta channel .. it's visible on photo next to HP logo how red lines disappear before and after blue logo.
I believe signal which goes to create negative charge to drum or laser is sending some signal in a form of lines when there is no signal present and create those lines. Is there any adjustment trimmer potentiometer on PCB to adjust bias or something so this voltage without signal is down ?
Forgot to mention printer is almost new.
Thanks in advance
Hope my case is not new or unique.

Hi Sasha70,
Since you have checked and cleaned all cartridge contacts, the other thing to ckeck is the HVPS (High Voltage Power Supply).
Remove the HVPS and then reseat it carefully so that the springs make proper contact with the HVPS' contacts. The springs must be visible through the corresponding holes on the HVPS.
If this won't help, then the next step should be to replace the HVPS.
If your printer is new and under warranty then contact the retailer from where you bought it.
I hope this helps,
Cheers!

Printer in not user but it's bought and stayed in storage for couple years so warranty is expired.
Checked connectors for cartfige and compared to cyan or yellow looks same status .. no visible bent or damage.
One thing .. sponge roller on a end of itb unit is showing a 40 mm magenta mark of toner . I am wondering is it this failure of fuser unit ?
Is it possible that formatter is sending wrong signal to magenta drum ?Output roller on itb visible marks from.magenta

Formatter is very unlikely to cause this. Have you printed an engine test page yet?
Check HVPS, this PCB is more likely to cause this issue, because it is the one that charges the drums.
