I have a situation here where the printer emits actual smoke and a smell (like bad cheese I am told) when printing heavier weight paper, such as letterhead. Regular 20lb paper is fine.

When printing the heavier paper (the user adjusts for the paper weight in the printer settings) the issue occurs when printing from the manual feed tray. When printing letterhead from tray 2, no issues occur; prints fine with no smoke/odor.

Can someone advise me what's going on or recommend a fix, outside of using tray 2 with letterhead from now on?

Thanks!

Hi I would like to assist to the best of my ability to solve your problem.I hope the information i supply will be of help.

I would first try another brand of paper.Paper can give odors off when going through the fuser unit.It might also be that the paper is to moist. And colour paper might also make the difference.Hope this helps.
