A few days ago, a page printed out of the printer by itself. When I looked, I saw that it was something I had sent a day earlier.

Since then, I cannot regularly get printer to print out anything- I get a message saying processing job, but no other error messages. Sometimes if I turn it off for a while, then back on, I can print out one page before it stops woking. I can easily print a configuration page(s), so it can print when it wants to, but not sure if therre is anything on that page that would tell me anything.

Any ideas on what might be causing it to not print, since displayed message is no help.

Thanks.

Nobody...?

Sound like a driver issue with the MAC. I would post this question on a MAC board where you will probably get more help.

I don't think that is it- it has always been on a Mac Ethernet network, for 20+ years with no problem.  Have not updated software recently, and it started acting weird by taking over 12 hours to process a 1 page Word document, then after that, stopped printing altogether. A few times, I was able to turn it off then on, and get 1 page out, with no errors, before it stopped working again.

Tried unplugging for hours plugging back in, then printing, but still acting up. Tried resetting Ethernet hub, still same. I think something is broken or worn out with printer, but can't find the answer online.

I hate to throw it out and get a cheaper one that will only last a few years if this one can be fixed or something replaced, but what…?

Unless you have another computer you can connect (a windows  based is preferred) to test it will hard to find out if the issue is the formater on the printer. You say you can print config pages from the menu on the printer so that usually means the formatter is working. I do not know what network card you have installed but is is possible the network card is having issues. First thing I would suggest is a cold reset of the printer and then reloading on the MAC. To perform a cold reset turn off the power, then hold the green button down while powering on the printer until you see cold reset on the display and release the button. The printer will come to ready and then wait about 2 minutes for it to obtain a new ip address and use it to reload the printer. If the network card is bad you can buy them on ebay for little money. You will want to use a 610n, 615N or 620N.

No Windows here ;). Not sure exacty what a formater is/does, but I was able to print a config page the other day. Card is whatever the printer shipped with.

I will try the cold reset- does that erase all settings on printer as well? I have trays named & preferences set, but it is not the end of the world.

Also, I just tried printing changing the Paper Feed from Auto (default is tray 3) , to tray 1and interestingly, it printed fine- but still used tray 3! Worked a few times with that method, so now I am really unsure what to make of it.

Thanks for suggestions.
