Color LaserJet Enterprise M553
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a Color LaserJet Enterprise M553 that starts the bootup process and when it gets to "initializing" stage, it stays there with a counter going.  The initialzing counter, over a 20 hour period, reached 65,000+ and never completed.  The touch screen is not responsive other than making a click noise when pressed on.  I have powered the unit off, unplugged it, held the power button, reset the ram and other connections on the circuit board with nothing helping.  I have also downloaded the Dec 2017 firmware update onto a USB flash drive and have inserted the flash drive into the USB port on the printer but it never prompts for anything.  It goes through the startup process then rolls to "initializing" and there it remains.

Hi @Darren318,

Please perform the below steps and check for the issue.

1. Disconnect USB/Network/FAX and power on the Standalone unit.

2. Check and remove any packaging material inside the printer and toner cartridge.

3. Try different power source.
4. Perform a power cycle by unplugging the power cord while the power is on and plug it back.
5. Perform a power drain by disconnecting the power cord from the back of the printer and keeping the power button pressed for 30 seconds and if there is a power switch, keep the switch in ON position for 30 seconds before reconnecting the power cord.

6. Restore printer to factory defaults:

* On the product control panel, touch the Administration menu

* Select General Settings menu

* Scroll to and touch the Restore Defaults button, and then touch the OK/Save button. The product automatically restarts.

7. Turn Off the printer for 3 min and then try turning On the unit.
