Toner Issues For HP Mfp M880's

Hi

Hoping someone on here can help with two somewhat strange but for me important questions, my office has 5x Mfp M880's installed and also 3x CM4540's and these are in almost constant use throughout the day, as you can imagine we get through a lot of toner and only ever use original HP products.

My first question is:  On the configuration / useage page it shows the serial number of the 4x toners within current use, however these do not appear to correspond to either the serial numbers upon the HP security hollogram nor from the serial number upon the side of the HP toner box, this is always the case and yet we only use original HP trade toners, why does the serial number shown on the data page not match the serial number upon the toner box ? 

My second question is along similar lines, whilst the printers (specifically the Mfp M880's) show the serial number for the current toners being used (though as above these don't seem to corrospond to the serial numbers upon the toner boxes), is there anyway of seeing the history - of ALL serial numbers for ALL toners ever used by the printer ?.

*By the way im looking for some answers to the above in relation to some possible stolen toner cartridges, we are trying to track some serial numbers from toners we brought previously, is there anyway the printer / network will show the history (serial numbers) of all cartridges we have previously used and not just he currently installed toner cartridge ?.
