Laserjet Pro M254

Hello,

I bought my laserprinter to make prints that I can add gold or silver transfer foil to using a laminator. All I read online was: "you need a laser printer", so I bought the Laserjet Pro M254 but now the transfer foil won't adhere to my printing.

Do I need to change my settings on the printer?

When I use exactly the same procedure but on our printer at work, the foiling does attach, so the problem is definitely not in the foiling process...

Thanks for your help, Lien

The toner formulation might cause varied results. The newer HP toners are mostly styrene plastic and that might be too slippery or soft for the foil to bond to.

Thank you, do you know which toner types I should try? What to look for when ordering new ones?

The toner we use at work looks like it "lies more on top of the page", it is a bit "elevated", whereas my toner looks a lot softer at home, I don't see any edges. In fact the printing looks nicer but I think the toner is indeed too soft for foiling...

This printer is only designed for one type of toner. It uses a softer toner to allow for fusing with less heat required which means lower energy consumption.

Thank you so much for your helpful insight! Would you happen to know which printer would be great to use for foiling?... I don't think I would need colors, just black & white. (I have an inkjet printer to print colors if I need to)
