HP LaserJet MFP M725
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi everyone,

I have a brand new HP LaserJet MFP M725 printer and I am receiving error "Tray 2 Lifting" . When I click on the error it says "Tray 3 empty". Both Tray 2 and 3 are completely full, I have powered off the printer as well as removed all the trays and paper. Reinserted everything and I am still receiving error "Tray 2 Lifting". Any trouble shooting advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Are all shipping locks and materials removed from the trays? Are you able to print from tray 3? If you pull the tray out there is a metal plate that is supposed to lift up, does that tray lift up freely?

All shipping locks and materials have been removed from the all of the trays. I am able to print from tray 3 but not from tray 2. Tray 2's metal plate does lift up freely as well.

Look closely in the tray 2 cavity and make sure there is nothing preventing the tray movement. We have had cases where a paper jam gets pushed into the back of the cavity and keeps the gears and switches from meshing properly.
