HP LaserJet 1018 Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP LaserJet 1018 printer that I am trying to use. The computer recognizes the printer when I use the HP scan and print doctor but does not properly install the driver. I have followed the suggested links:

I followed the driver installation instructions and had to manually add the driver (it was not automatically detected). I used the Windows Update to search for driver. I got the message "Windows was unable to get a list of devices from Windows Update. Please try again." [I tried several times. The internet was working. I also tried restarting the computer and the printer.]

Hi,

From the start menu click the gear icon to access Windows Settings.

Click Update & Security and be sure to install any available update.

Restart your PC as instructed and check under Update & Security for any further updates, repeat the same till your computer is fully up to date.

now check for any difference while clicking Windows Update during the Add Printer wizard/

May you see any difference?

Maybe it's not a computer problem at all. These 1018 need a good usb 2.0 cable!
