Hello there,

I recently purchased (two weeks ago) HP LaserJet Pro MFP M426FDW and installed the designated software and drivers on two different laptops. We also have an HP InkJet 8600. We connect wirelessly to both printers.

Prior to buying the LaserJet, anytime we would print from either laptop to the 8600, it would give us an error that the printer was offline. When you go to the printer, it shows it is online and it shows it is connected to the same wifi network as the laptops. The error again would say it is offline. In order to fix, we would have to disconnect from our wifi network, connect to a second network option and then disconnect and connect back to the original wifi network. As soon as we would do that on our laptop, the printer would print. Just to be clear, we never had to remove the printer from the network, only the laptop that was trying to print,

Over the past number of years, we weren't printing all that much but over the past 6 months our need to print has increased substantially, so after going through a few thousand pages on the 8600 in a couple months time, (disconnecting and reconnecting EVERY TIME) I decided to buy a LaserJet.

We have now had it for a couple weeks and are running into the same darn problem but with a slight difference. Instead of disconnecting the laptop from the wifi as described above, we only have to disconnect from the wifi and then reconnect right back to the same wifi we just disconnected from. In addition, we have to turn off the laserjet and turn it back on. Then it prints. I have checked the laserjet and it shows it is connected to the right wifi network. I have even printed the diagnostic and it shows everything is ok.

This is frustrating the hell out of me. What is going wrong and isn't there ONE HP software program that can control both printers and help eliminate this issue? I am about to take the LaserJet back to the retailer and return it and buy a different brand.

For informational sake...

Laptop #1 - Purchase 1 year ago - HP Spectre X360 Convertible running windows 10

Laptop #2 - Purchased 6 months ago - Dell Inspiration running Windows 10

Issue above is identical regardless of which laptop is used.

It could be WIN10 issue. Do you have a computer that runs some other OS to test printers in your environment?

You may be right. I was trying to get it going last night, pulling my hair out.. As I sat there trying everything I could, my teenager printed from his bedroom on this school laptop which runs Windows 8. I got so excited thinking it was my stuff printing... Nope. It was his homework. Major letdown. :LaughingTears:

Resolved! I accessed my Router, cleared out all of the attached devices. Completed a firmware update and then changed the name of my wifi network. I then added each device one by one and by doing this the router assigned a specific IP address to each item. That fixed it! Thanks for trying to help. I do appreciate it!
