Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

After an electric power interupption my two printers at office couldn't work and I have tried to re-install the software but when the order to connect the cable to the computer appears I plug the usb cab and it says USB device not recognized: The last usb device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.

@Akiye This looks like a hardware malfunction that has been caused by the power interruption, however, before we jump to conclusions, I suggest we perform a hard reset followed by checking with alternate USB Ports or another USB device to check if that works fine:

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

    NOTE: 

    HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

And please check if the USB drive that doesn't work on the printer, works on an alternate device to ensure the drive is okay.

If the issue persists and the USB works on other devices and yet, not on the printer, I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options:

follow the below steps to get started:

 

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on "Continue as guest".

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

 

Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!
