hp printer laserjet m1005
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey!

I have a HP Laserjet m1005  attached via network.

Network router TP-Link TL-WR841N Wi-Fi Router, Wireless-N300, 4 x LAN, 1 x WAN, 2 x 5dBi Antenna.

Have done several attempts to install printer driver on my client, always got the error message "product not found in the network"; also installation failed with automatic mode and also with manually entering IP address.

One thing, I have been Using the VPN and I want to set my Printer with the IP assigned to me by the provider as my work doesn't allow me to get disconnected with the VPN because after that i cant be able to connect to the my Other regions offices remotely. I have different dedicated IPs like German and Canada. So anything I could do to set things straight in this regard?

I am using https://www.purevpn.com/dedicated-ip/german-ip

Any good recommendations?

best regards

Emma

Hi Emma ,

That depends on your VPN configuration and capabilities, in most case a VPN connection will prevent any communication with devices on the local network, checking the VPN tunnel configuration for your VPN would be my first recommendation, but such configuration varies and depends on your VPN connction capabilities and limitations.

For my experience, printing to local network devices when connected to a VPN would be very problematic and won't work in most cases, maybe it worth switching to a USB connection with this computer to avoid LAN issues.
