I have had this printer for over three years. I have never had any issues when replacing my toner cartridge! I have replaced the toner cartridge today with an HP Laserjet 134X Toner Cartridge as instructed and as I have done at least seven previous times. I have done everything “Support” has instructed. I have turned off mobile phone as well as tablet and turned back on. I have turned off, unplugged, disconnected from wireless provider, etc. the Laserjet Printer, then re-connected, and nothing has worked to clear the “unidentifiable error” (Hp Smart Support). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Hi @Bellakins29

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I acknowledge the error you are experiencing with your HP LaserJet printer after installing the HP 134X toner cartridge. Let us go through recommended steps to clear the error and restore printing:

Step 1: Verify Cartridge Seating

  • Open the toner access door.
  • Remove the HP 134X cartridge and gently rock it side to side to distribute toner evenly.
  • Reinsert the cartridge firmly until it clicks into place.
  • Close the toner access door.

Step 2: Run Diagnose & Fix in HP App

  • Open the HP App on your Windows device.
  • Select your printer from the home screen.
  • Click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Allow the tool to run and apply any corrections automatically.

Step 3: Update Printer Firmware

  • In the HP App, go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Printer Update.
  • Check for updates and install if available.
  • Restart the printer after the update completes.

Step 4: Reset the Printer

  • With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Power on the printer and check the display.

Step 5: Confirm Cartridge Authenticity

  • Ensure the cartridge is genuine HP.
  • In the HP App, navigate to Supplies > Toner Status to verify recognition.

This approach should help clear the “unidentifiable error” and restore normal printing.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
