My printer has been working fine and then today I got a message to say that a software update was necessary. I followed all the instructions, including several reboots but then got a message to say that it had failed because it had taken too long. I went through the whole process again and, although it seemed to be progressing, I got the same result. I had been hoping to do some urgent printing today so extremely annoyed and frustrated!

Thanks for your reply. In fact I have now managed to get it to work after deleting the printer completely from 'devices' and starting again as a completely new printer.  Just for the record, I use Windows 10 and the printer is a Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M277 dw
