I noticed I had an update on the printer so I hit install update. After the update whenver I would print it would print hollow letters. I didn't change anything on my Mac, I even tested this from a Windows machine I have. The first page always prints hollow and the rest of the pages print normal. I reset it back to factory settings. The only thing I can think of is the upgrade is breaking the functionality. Has anyone had this problem?

You're not the only one.

Others have reported that they have fixed this by setting the printer back to factory settings; it's possible that the reset method you used didn't do that.

Make a note of your existing settings before doing so.

Once you've done that:

1) power down
2) power on
3) when hp logo appears, press and hold the lower left region of the touchscreen.
4) release when the next message appears.

Then, set up the machine again.

DSwanRChives,

Thank you so much! That fixed my issue. I have been working on this all day, tried installing the firmware several times from multiple computers. I thought I had wiped it to factory settings. Thank you again!

I had the same problem. Your procedure fixed it.

I am, however, disappointed with HP for not anticipating this problem.

Are we customers supposed to be quality control now?
