I just got this Printer HP Deskjet Advantage 5525
When I put the ink that came with the printer, this message in the printer screen says "Use SETUP Cartage"!! (Please Use the SETUP Cartridges that came with your printer)
Actually, I put the orginal.

The setup cartridges are used for initial installation, after the ink is used you would replace them with standard supplies.
If the cartridges that came in the box did not work I would suggest the troubleshooting steps in the document here. If that does not resolve the issue I would suggest you Contact HP for warranty service.

The setup cartridges are required for initial setup of the printer. Did you purchase the printer new or was it a floor model or demo unit? If the cartridges are not setup cartridges you will need to contact HP to request setup cartridges. The information here may help.

Hi - I have a slightly related question.... I recently bought a replacement printhead for my HP8600 plus and this came with setup cartridges.... Now, the previous cartridges weren't finished so I just put them in the new printhead having not noticed that it was important to use the setups. I got an error message indicating that my black cartridge was missing or damaged and so the new printhead has not yet worked. My question is, assuming I am getting the error message because I did not use the setup cartridges, is it too late to use them now, given that this will not be the first purported use of the new printhead ? Obviously, if it is actually too late to use the setups in this way, I'd rather not open them and run the risk of them going to waste. Thanks very much for any assistance...

Use Set Up cartridges.
My case,
I was getting "printer head missing" error
Solution: Its hard or impossible to repair printer head so better buy new one...excuse me..(its costlier and are not available locally so better buy new non hp printer[lesson learned]...coz its spare parts including ink cart. are costlier that whole printer)...still i dont want to give up..so i bought online from hong kong to india.
Printer head missing error gone...
New error: use SET UP cartridges to complete setup
Tried full factory setup..but all goes in vein. Took my printer nearest hp service center..but they dont have demo cartridges that company provides them for error resolution...he suggest me to buy new fresh cartridges, thank God i did not trust him, but i trust google and found that..new cartridges will never work for set up..
[Lesson learned 2: Never throw out your old usable stuff specially small electronic stuff, never know at what time it will help full to you]
1. I took out my setup cartridges that i ve received with printer.. cleaned them. And mounted on new printer head.
2. Switched on printer, go to factory setting menu and then go for semi setup( partial setup). You will get error keep pressing ok button..make sure all cartridges should be detectable to printer...irrespective of blah blah error.
3. At end of setup, switch off your printer and unplug for one minuit. Post honeymoon time of one minute plug it again and long press printer power button to directly go to factory setting main menu.
4. This time again go for semi setup. Complete the setup system will still give you error saying that cartridges are used or deployed. That's fine go and press OK. System should start configuring or preparing your printer with lapsed time.. And then asked for alightment paper print.
5. If not repeat the semi setup again.
