Laserjet Pro MFP M277dw suddenly won't connect to my WIFI despite correct password. Error says WPA authentication method on your HP printer has been configured to a non-default setting. How do I fix? FEELS LIKE PLANNED OBSOLESCENSE!

Hello @Superfly32, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw printer.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please try a few troubleshooting steps provided below so that I can assist you further?

  1. Disconnect any USB or Ethernet cable
The printer cannot connect wirelessly if a network cable is connected.
  2. Confirm the printer is within wireless range
Make sure the printer and wireless router are powered on and close enough for a stable signal.
  3. Run the printer’s wireless test
    On the printer control panel:
    • Touch Setup
    • Select Service
    • Select Run Wireless Test
  4. Reconnect the printer to Wi‑Fi
Reconfigure the wireless connection so the printer uses the same security method as the router.
  5. Use HP Easy Start or HP software to set up wireless again
    • Go to 123.hp.com/laserjet
    • Download the setup software for your printer
    • Follow the on-screen steps to reconnect the printer to your wireless network
  6. If setting up manually, verify wireless security settings
    During setup, make sure:
    • The correct SSID is selected
    • The correct network password is entered
    • The authentication type matches the router, such as WPA Personal or WPA2 Personal
  7. Restart the router
Restart the wireless router, then try connecting the printer again.
  8. Make sure the computer and printer are on the same wireless network
This is required for setup and printing.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
