Everytime I use the top feeder for scanning the paper jams. It gets pulled to the front (part of the printer that faces you) and is being pulled through the feeder on an angle. No matter what I try this happens each time. Opening everything up and adjusting things, reseting the printer to factory, alignment calibration, etc. Nothing helps.

95% of this type of jam error is caused by a foreign object being stuck in the paper path, I have removed everything from staples and paper clips to one machine where the user managed to get 16 post it notes signature here arrows stuck in the adf before it completely quit. The trick is to floss the paper path, which means you take a 1-2 inch wide strip of heavy paper, light cardboard or somewhat stiff mylar and force it through the path, in the direction of paper travel. Normally you only go in the direction of paper travel to avoid damaging any sensor flags in the paper path, but in a case like this you may need to in order to remove stubborn debris. If you find a spot where you simply cannot push the flosser through, move slightly to side and push the flosser half way through and then slide it sideways and pull backwards at the same time to hopefully dislodged what is stuck.
