macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hello.  I have just spent 2 hours using the virtual chat.  A complete waste of time.  All of the solutions that came up were for Windows and not Mac.

Since the last software update, the printer will not print PDF files created from the printer, but does print any other PDF files that I have downloaded.  My printer warranty has expired.  I need to call in to HP tech support, but cannot get a number to call.

The error message is as follows:

"Stopped - Unable to convert Postscript file".

I have checked to make sure that the printer is updates as well as my Mac app.  I have the latest software.  I have restarted the printer.  The issue remains.

One thought that comes to my mind is to uninstall and reinstall the software on my Mac, but do not know how to do this.

Is there a suggestion that I can try?  I would prefer to call HP directly.  I will bridge the warranty issue while discussing this issue. It is obviously a software issue.

Hi @JBrenC

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the PDF printing issue.

Try updating your Mac. To update Mac, try these steps - How to update the software on your Mac

Update the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Also, try updating the PDF software.

If the issue still persists, try adding the printer using AirPrint -

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

NOTE: Make sure that the printer Kind is Bonjour or Bonjour Multifunction, or USB.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add. Select AirPrint from the Use menu.

6.) Try to print.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
