When trying to get a driver for win7 for the laserjet 4l we get told to use the windows driver that comes with the OS.

When you try to use it we find it's not there.  So then we have to do an update and then it gets listed.

Then we can install.

So I've done all that about three or four times.

Doesn't work.  I mean the process works but the driver doesn't.

Is there a better driver to be found somewhere?

Win7.  32 bit.   Laserjet 4L.  serial [personal information removed]

Hi,

How is the printer is connected to your PC?

Which port have you selected once configuring the printer?

Right click the shown printer icon from Control Panel > Devices and printers, then select Printer Properties.

Open the Ports tab and clarify which exact port is checked.

It is a parallel port connection.  On LPT1

Don't worry.  It just printed out three test pages and then the page I'd written to test it.

I wish there was some way to stop them dead when they do that - start printing a whole queue you didn't even know was there.

So I guess those three test pages were from the prior attempts to get it going, maybe?

Wonder what could have fixed it....  I turned it upside down and so on looking for model and serial numbers.. maybe a loose connection.....

Thanks for you prompt attention,  right good    🙂
