HP Printer Driver for Pro 127/128 never gets installed There are instructions in this form to uninstall the driver but it never gets installed. We have the latest driver Downloaded and it still fails like 99%

Not entirely sure about the printer model.

 

If this is your printer:

HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn

or

If this is your printer:

HP LaserJet Pro MFP M128 series

 

then the Printer Software is here:

HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127/128 Series Full Software and Drivers

 

If the software is failing during the last phase where the "device setup" is detecting the printer on the network, consider:

Check to make sure your Security Software (Windows Defender, for example) is not blocking the installation.

and / or

Remove the software > Restart > Install the software using the rules for compatibility.

 

Preparation

 

Download and Save the Full Feature Software to your computer.

Do not "run" the installation yet...

 

Completely uninstall the printer software

     Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

     Restart the computer and log in.

 

Check Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers –

     If you see the printer, Right-Click on it and Uninstall / Remove device

 

Open Control Panel > icon view > Device Manager 

     View > Devices by type

     Expand the Printers section

     If you see the printer, Right-Click on it and Uninstall / Remove

 

If you remove the device from Devices and Printers or the Device Manager,

      Restart the computer and log in.

 

Method – Manual – Set Compatibility and Install Software

 

If you have not done so, Download and Save the Full Feature Software to your computer

Navigate to your Downloads folder and open the folder so you can view the contents

Right-Click on the downloaded installation file > Properties > Compatibility 

Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for"

Select Windows 7

Click Apply and OK to close the Properties menu

Right-Click on the program and select to Run as Administrator

 

After the software installs, Restart the computer and log in.

You referenced Windows 7 in your response I have windows 10

i have HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn

i do NOT see the printer anywhere so i can NOT uninstall the software

ive looked on the forum and many people have problems with this installation of windows 10 and this printer. 

how can HP take over my computer and fix this

Open the Software page

Click the View All button to see the supported versions of the software.

For example, excerpted list at this writing:

Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit)

At this time, I cannot confirm that the issue is within the driver. 
 
If you wish to verify the driver / version:
Open your printer home page
Open Catagory Software, Drivers and Firmware
Click the Change button, Enter the information for your Operating System,
Click to "Change" the view
Click "See full details" to open the "Full Software" page
 
The suggestion to use the rules of Compatibility for Windows 7 does not install a Windows 7 driver.
Compatibility uses Windows 7 methods, links, rules to install the software. 
(No emails, please, I know the description is inaccurate.)
It is true that the solution may not work; the suggestion is at least not harmful, it is one of the fixes that is easy to try, and this simple difference might resolve the problem.
 
If you wish to do so, please do contact HP Technical Support.
Know that many of the "help" sites you find on the Internet are not HP Support.
Be very careful who you let "take over your computer".  HP follows strict guidelines that protect your data and privacy.
 

Reminders

  • Use the serial number of the device to submit the case (do not post that information here).
  • In those areas where Chat is an option, Chat service hours are likely restricted.
  • Chat is not available in every region.

 

In the event that Chat is not available in your region:  Call the number provided in the HP directory, else submit your case online (to receive phone contact information)

 

  • HP will advise you there is a fee for phone support and / or other services when your computer / device is no longer under warranty.  This is normal business practice.

 

  • HP may tell you that certain services are not covered under warranty.  This is normal business practice.  Standard Warranty typically covers specific hardware issues as explained in the Warranty contract. Care Pack coverage and warranties differ by package.

 

  • USA / Canada:  Regional contact information is displayed afteryou submit an online case.  Use the serial number of the device to submit the case to HP.

 

  • HP websites are the only ones allowed to use the HP copyright circle/logo.  Look for the copyright on any website claiming to be HP. If in doubt, scroll to the bottom of the Website to find HP copyright logo.
