New HP 6001 does not print auto-duplex using LEGAL sized paper.  Standard 8.5x11 works find, not so with 8.5x14.

Is this normal??

There have been models in the past that would only duplex letter sized. No where in any specs or manuals I could find does HP state what paper sizes are supported. I have escalated your question to the moderators in the hopes they can find someone at HP that can answer this question.

I went online to the HP Store and the agent there confirmed that this unit will not auto duplex legal size. You could manually duplex by re-feeding the paper

HI @DZ82,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you want auto-duplex with LEGAL-sized paper, but it is not supported on this printer.

Kindly find the steps to load the legal paper:

1. Open the input tray.

2. Press and hold the button on the paper-width guide, and then slide the guides to the edges of the tray.

3. Extend the input tray. NOTE: Printer models with an open input tray do not require the input tray to be extended.

a. Press and hold the button on the front edge of the input tray and extend the tray.

b. For printer models with a removable tray cover (dust cover), press the buttons at the bottom of the tray towards you to release and remove the cover. After printing is done, remember to reinsert the cover.

4. Insert the paper in portrait orientation and with the side to be printed facing down.

Make sure the stack of paper is aligned with the appropriate paper size lines in the tray. Also, make sure the stack of paper does not exceed the stack-height marking in the tray.

5. Adjust the paper-width guides until they touch the edges of the stack of paper.

6. Close the input tray. NOTE: When you reinsert the tray, the extended part is expected to remain outside the printer.

7. Pull out the output tray extender.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
