M506
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My window 10 and my HP M506 don't work well together.  Everything I print wants to go to manual feed.  I have manual feed set a window envelope #10 and tray 2 is plain letter size, tray 3 as pre-printed letter.

Auto select still wants to use manual feed tray, you can go the long way around by going to prefereces and change trays except for e-mails from outlook 365.  E-mails will only go to manual feed.

Manual feed door is empty and closed, it will still select manual feed.  Every print job is held up until I open the manual feed door and put paper in it.

I have had HP printer for over 20 years and all execpt this M506 would select tray 2 or 3 correctly and would only consider the manual feed "IF" is was open and had paper or envelopes loaded.

Using Auto select implies that the source paper tray will be selected using the paper size and paper type attributes specified for the print job (via a Print Preferences dialogue, or equiivalent).

The printer will attempt to match these attributes to what it believes it has in each of its cassette trays.

If it cannot find a match, then the printer will prompt for instructions; the prompt should show what size and type of paper is being requested by the print job; for example:

Load Tray 1 Letterhead Letter

indicates that paper of size = Letter and type = Letterhead has been requested.

What does a Configuration Report from the printer show for the paper tray settings?

How does this compare with what is being requested (in terms of paper size and type)?
