LaserJet Pro 100 MFP175nw
macOS 10.12 Sierra

I need to change the password for the wifi that my printer connects to. It seems that it's not possible to do from the printer menus. Instead, according to the installation guide found on HP:s support site, one should do this setup from an application (residing on a CD that came with the printer) with the printer connected to the computer via USB. I don't have the CD available, and even if i had it i doubt that the setup app would run on Mac OS Sierra..

I have searched for the app online but couldn't find it. How to solve this?

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you would like to change the password for your wifi to which your HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw printer connects. I'll be glad to answer this for you.

I'd like to inform you that the wifi password cannot be changed from the printer. The wifi password can be changed by getting into the router page. I suggest you contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to get the wifi password changed. Please remember that changing the wifi password will affect all the devices that connect to the wifi and you will have to re-enter the new password on all devices o connect to the wifi.

I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to let me know how it goes. Good luck! 🙂

Thanks for the reply! But sorry, i wasn't making myself clear. I have already changed my router/ssid password. I don't need to contact my ISP for that. I need to "re-connect" my printer to my local wi-fi network. Just as if the printer was completly new and needed to be connected for the first time. How do i do this without a cd?

You're welcome. 🙂

Thanks for the information.

I suggest you to restore network defaults in your printer and then run the wireless setup: Please view the printer front panel for better understanding:

  • To restore the network defaults, Press the Wireless button to open the Wireless Menu.
  • Scroll through the options to options in the wireless menu until you reach Restore Defaults.
  • Press OK.

Then you will need to use the software to connect the printer over the network. Please refer to this link for detailed steps.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted. Cheers!

Thanks again! But the problem with this process is that it involves the installation cd. I have a brand new MacBook Pro running OS X Sierra. They don't come with cd players anymore and i can't find the original cd anyway. And as mentioned in the original post, i doubt that the installation program would run on Sierra. What i basically need is a download link to (an up-to-date) version of the setup program.

You're most welcome.

I checked and see that there are no full featured drivers for Mac Sierra. Therefore I suggest you use a lower version of Mac (like Mac 10.11) or may be a Windows computer. Then we can install the full featured drivers on that operating system and make the printer connect wirelessly during the setup.

Once we do that, we can come back to your new Mac OS Sierra and add the printer as a network printer. The drivers for the printer can be found in this HP link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/printers

Hope this does the trick. Let me know. Cheers! 🙂
