color laserjet pro MFP M177fw
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I am having a major issue! I've changed nothing at all about my computer, printer, etc., but all of a sudden my color laserjet pro MFP M177fw won't print! It says that it's printing, and things are spooling or printing or in the queue, but that's it. Nothing happens.

If I print a test page from the printer itself it'll print, but my computer can't do it. The wireless is working fine, and I ran a diagnostic test and it said everything passed. I ran the troubleshooter from my computer and it said it there were no detectable problems.

I'm not sure what other information to include, but I need some help, as I need to be able to print things out ASAP for work.

Thanks,

Lindsay

Hi @lkupsco14 ,

I understand that you are having issues printing from the computer, but you can print a hardware self test page. I will certainly do my best to help you.

Check to make sure the correct driver is installed and the default printer is correct in the Devices and Printers window.

Try the steps in this document to see if it will help. Wireless Printer Prints a Partial Page or Fails to Print All Pages in Windows 8. Start on Step 3 to run the Window updates for KB3000850 and and you might need to continue through the document to setup a static IP address. Select the link for Workaround, to check the drivers installed, you might need to update them in Step 4, #8. Step 3 provides the information for setting up a Static IP address for the printer.

Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. http://www.hp.com/go/tools>Using HP Diagnostic Tools for HP Printers in Windows.

What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)

If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.

Have a nice day!
Thank You.

Everything comes back fine.

The problem started when I tried to print from Adobe Reader. It printed 1 page, and now it won't print anything from any program at all.

Yesterday I called HP support and he took control of my computer and did a bunch of stuff I didn't understand and it fixed it - but I'm concerned that it'll happen every time that I try to use Adobe Reader. I'm not sure how to fix it without calling someone everyday. I uninstalled Adobe Reader, and installed Adobe Acrobat instead, but I print a lot from Adobe, so I can't have it happening every single day!

Any other suggestions?!

Thanks so much,

Lindsay

Thanks for providing that information lkupsco14.

Try printing the document as a image using Adobe, to see if that will help.

Choose File > Print, and then click Advanced.

Select Print as Image.

Click OK to close the Advanced Print Setup dialog box, and then click OK to print.

If you have issues again after trying to print from Adobe, run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will clear out any jobs stuck in the queue and any other issues.

I would still run the KB3000850 article in the previous post if you haven't already.

Hope this helps.

Thank You.

Hi @whatt100,

I see that you are having issues printing from Excel, Adobe and the printing the Windows Test Page. I would like to help you.

What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.

Can you print from any applications on the computer? (Notepad)

Check the port that is assigned to the printer.

Go to Devices and Printers, right click on the printer and left click Printer Properties and select the Ports tab.

What is the port check on?

Then click on Configure Port to view the IPv4 address for the printer. (network printer)

Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor, it will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it.

What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)

Hello,

My printer did the same thing - it was working fine and now it won't print. The printer seems to be working fine and so does my MacBook Air, but they're not reading each other. My MacBook recognizes the printer and it is my default printer, but it won't print anything. I also tried scanning a document to my email and the printer wouldn't send the scan. Could you help me out with this?

It printed the left half of the page although the print preview showed the full page on Microsoft Excel spread sheet. I copied the same print and pasted it to Microsoft Word and it printed the full page this time. Thank you.
