LaserJet Pro MFP M177 PCLmS
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

We have a team that have several of the LaserJet Pro MFP M177 PCLmS.  As you would expect, every time we use a USB connection with these printers a new driver is installed for each printer.  I was wondering if I would need install a different driver for each printer when using Wireless Direct?  Or will one driver work on any printer that I'm directly connected to?

Thanks

Welcome @ilibao,

Thanks for participating in the forums!  I see you would like to know if you need to install a different driver for when using Wireless Direct. I would be happy to help you.

You don't need to install a separate driver for using the Wireless Direct.

The HP Wireless Direct Printing feature lets you print from your wireless mobile device directly to an HP Wireless Direct-enabled product without requiring connection to an established network or the Internet.

Use HP Wireless Direct to print wirelessly from the following devices:

● iPhone, iPad, or iTouch using Apple AirPrint or the HP ePrint mobile app
● Mobile devices that run Android, iOS, or Symbian using the HP ePrint Home & Biz application
● Any wireless capable computer with any operating system.

I have provided the printer's manual with some more information on using Wireless Direct on page 32: LaserJet Pro MFP M177.

I have tried setting up my Envy 4500 printer as wireless direct but it appears the only way is through a network so I assume I need a printer that has wireless direct capabilites.  Yet, none of the HP printers state Wireless Direct.  They only state Wireless.  Do you know which printers are WD?  Thanks,
