e60155
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all. Got a interesting problem where one of my e60155 would print dirty envelopes in one location and another doesnt in another location.

It seems the drum isnt being "blanked" or "cleaned". What would cause this? Its in an office with heat and AC, not high elevation.

and theres all these "optimization" and "alternate" mode, what are they for? its hard to find any info through partner channel. pretty frustrating.

If you have access the partner site look for information on the M602/605 series as the alternate settings are explained and likey you will need to select the alternate humidity mode and also make sure that the sizes are set properly for the envelope to prevent drum pollution from over printing, where toner is applied to the drum in places where there is no media. Also make sure that you have a clean power source. We find more often now that lack of a dedicated outlet is related to imaging problems.

It WAS set properly. I have replaced this darn thing twice.

I will look into the M series docs.  Thank you good sir

Please clarify, if you replaced twice, do you mean the physical printer? If yes then you need to look at a locational or media issue as the likelihood of 2 defective printers is low. Power can be a real issue with newer printers, they seem more sensitive than the older models.

This was observed.

MS Word mailout function doesnt give you option to choose media type. Where an envelope is created from a word doc, letter with address typically. You can choose trays, but it will default to "last used setting" when arrived at the machine.

Users will think they are doing it right.

*so this is MS word's limitation. The mail out option will only short cut to the last used media setting, it you have used cardstock, it will use cardstock, plain to plain etc...

Final update.

There seem to be something wrong with the "any type" setting on machine side. It wont apply the media setting from the print driver.

Work around:

Set driver to "unspecified“ in media setting.

And then set machine to the weight you are using" in the corresponding tray, it performed better.

Note: the reason why "any type" was used in the first place is due to the work environment being multi user and fast paced. To set each job specifically each time hinders their work flow. So the idea is to leave the machine side flexible was opted.

05/07/21, user reported satisfactory feedback. solution credit will go to Paratrooper since usage is part of the cause.

Just dont use "any type" on your machine

Any media causes numerous problems. Glad you found a resolution.

Its not media that the cause of the problem actually.

"any type" should take the command issued by the driver, which it doesnt. It has no setting (normal, intermediate, heavy) in paper type. If it was design redirect, it doesnt. It doesnt even fuse properly with slightly heavier picture.

The work around is actually doing something off the book to produce the result if i was to do it by the book.

It works, i am happy. HP Machine in general is robust, maybe the use case in fast paced envrionment is not understood. You would have multiple users doing mutiple things at once for a 55page machine.

The driver will not always override the printer. For example, on models with finisher attached, if you try to fold paper, but the printer knows it cannot physically fold the media you are trying to use based on driver settings it will reject the print job. Hence, some jobs will not process using the any setting because the printer will "protect" itself. I do not have a list of what options override the driver, but I know that the folding process is one of them.

You are talking about features being locked out when certain option is selected.

This is Not that.
