I wanted to confirm my statement about driver settings not overriding the printer settings so I contacted my advanced support contacts at HP. Their response was "driver settings for paper do not override what is set on the printer and if you set paper type settings on the printer to any it treats all paper as PLAIN PAPER."

Additionally, this series was not designed to feed envelopes from the MP tray on a consistent basis, HP offers an paper cassette for envelopes.

It does have a envelope cassette. Very nice unit i might add.

Any type works like plain until you have heavier coverage. All these are tested. And we will blame the paper then? I wonder how many clients will let you do that.

So why even have "any type?" if its just plain? Any type covers heavy media does it not, because its "Any"? So if print driver cant prioritize over it, why bother have media setting in the driver? Design like this "can" imply it defers to somewhere else per use case. But doesnt?

Just dont use "any type".

Thanks, to be honest I was starting to doubt myself and wanted to confirm so that I was not spreading "wrong" information.

I understand this is not a common discussion, as would all initial findings be.
