new hp laserjet pro m12w running on mac sierra, latest download of hp printer driver

Can't print duplex... box is there to be ticked in print dialogue box, so I tick it hit print... it prints the even pages. The print dialogue box tells you to take paper from output and put into input and then press 'go'. There is no 'go' button on the printer. Just the cancel button which doesn't work. Hitting pause and then resume on the print dialogue box doesn't work either.

Any ideas?

Hi @mikeo72,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I came across your post and wanted to assist you.

I see that you are having issues while printing to your HP LaserJet Printer from your MAC. Let’s try to reset your printing systems first. Try the steps below:

  • Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
  • Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
  • Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
  • Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
  • Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
  • Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
  • Click the “Add button” (+).
  • Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
  • Click “Print Using...”, and then select the name of your printer (By default “Airprint” would be selected)

Now try to print and check. Also, go to http://hp.care/2c4o69L to understand more about duplex printing.

If the issue persists, try the steps below to download and install the Sierra drivers for your printer:

1.      Uninstall the old printer drivers first. Follow the steps mentioned here: http://hp.care/2cKwLyC

2.      Now update the drivers on MAC OS using the Apple Software Update. Check here for steps: http://hp.care/2cNgw3C

3.      Restart your computer and printer.

4.      Now go to http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/lj_M12/mac/HP_LaserJet_Professional_M11-M13_Series... to install the HP full feature software which will download and install the new printer drivers for MAC 10.12.

5.      In the “Add printer” window, make sure you add the printer as mentioned below:

•                     Click the “Add button” (+).

•                     Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.

•                     Click “Print Using...”, and then select the name of your printer (By default “Airprint” would be selected)

Let me know if that helps!

The response given by HP support is unhelpful. After loading the sheets again on the printer, just open and close the door that gives you access to the toner. That will continue the printing.

I can't believe how easy that was! I've been trying to figure this out for two years! Is this documented anywhere?

Finally!!! I never though of that (makes no sense at all), but works. Thanks
