could someone please tell me how to change the print quality of this printer from "normal" to "best"? i need step by step directions and also would like to make the new selection the default.  i did look at my user manual b4 asking this ?, but the problem i am experiencing is that when i attempt to slide the arrow over from normal to best, it won't stay at the "best" selection, but automatically slides back....i called hp, but they wanted to know my serial number b4 answering a simple fricking question like that and i decided maybe some kind person wouldn't need my fricking serial number before disclosing such top secret information to a customer.  thank-you.

Hi @chtib

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the print quality issue.

To better assist you -

1.) What's the application that you are trying to print from?

2.) Are you experiencing this issue while printing from other documents too?

While you respond to that,  let's try these steps to set the print quality -

1.) Open a document, photo, or webpage, click File, and then click Print to open the print dialog.
2.) If a Show Details button displays at the bottom of the dialog, click it to reveal all available menu options. The button changes to Hide Details when clicked.

3.) Toggle the Quality switch to adjust the settings.

If the issue still persists, try updating the Mac Book. Refer to this document for steps - How to update the software on your Mac

Also, try updating the printer's firmware -  HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
