Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I cannot connect my printer, I've several times tried to reinstall drivers, but it gives some inappropriate message and doesn't allow me to uninstall it. During the installation I've got this message  " USB device not recognized. The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it" and printer wasn't installed. I've checked and I'm sure that all usb ports are working. Tried to follow the troubleshooting steps but it doesn't list my issue. Printer is HP LaserJet 1022, (laptop HP is running on Windows 10 with latest updates on it) I have no idea what's wrong with it. usb ports are working, device was reboot several times, nothing from troubleshooting guidance is helped me,

@Slavafmv

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community.

I reviewed the case regarding issues with the printer.

I will be delighted to assist you here.

I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1)In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2) Select your HP Printer

3) Select Uninstall

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab

9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10) Select Ok

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12) Close Devices and Printers

Once done, follow this link and install the full feature driver software.

Keep me posted,

Hi, Barachiel

I tried to follow steps you provided, but nothing helped.

I followed the link you provided but there is no download button for driver download. I can see button for utility-diagnosys tool but there is nothing related to driver software. I've attached my screenshot so what else I can try?

HP 1022's connected port with Windows named as DOT4_001 not USB001 as most of peoples know.

Check in 1022's Printer Property's connected port to make sure it is DOT4_001 if it's not change it.

Also check below it may help.

Hi, I downloaded dot4 port driver, I was able to manually configure it and set it as a default printer, but when I plug usb connector in I have the same errors that I had before. I captured some screenshots, please take a look, any ideas are appreciated.  In bluetooth and other device tab you can see Unknown device, this is exact printer usb connection.2019-02-11 (1).png2019-02-11.png

If windows 10 finds out 1022 for you it's OK but it's not then you need to add it manually.

( I use Windows 7 myself and it's Chinese Edition so i don't really know the step by step in English Windows 10 Edition....)

Add new printer manually -> don't let Windows 10 finds it by itself -> select old printer not on the list -> choose the bottom one of the four -> local port select DOT4_001 -> from HP menu list find out 1022, if there's not click "Windows Update" below right side of menu, waiting for its finishing......... -> go back and fint it again

Hope it helps this time.
