I have an hp 4345 mfp laser jet copier that draws an extra sheet of paper half way through after it's done with the job that was sent through. what causes this and how can I fix this problem. I'm a service tech with Adtech- Shredco.

Thanks Richard

Odds are you have a sticky solenoid.  To test use the manual feed tray on the right side to print a job.  If necessary open any paper trays so the printer can not use them.  If it works from the manual tray then the solenoid's pad has gone bad causing the L arm to stick.  You can repair it, but on this printer it is a lot of work.  Get yourself the service manual for both this printer and the LJ4200 series.  The 4200 manual will give you better pictures as you only have to remove the solenoid from the base of the paper pickup assembly since it is only held by one screw.  You can leave the wire attached as you can work on it with the wire still attached.  You remove the small spring that holds the "L" arm in place and  remove the "L" arm.  You clean up an glue left on the "L" arm.  On the base of the solenoid where the pad was located, again clean everything up and place a replacement pad (you can use a thin strip of furniture pad or a small strip of velco).  Put the "L" arm back on and then the spring and then gently put the solenoid assembly back in its place.  The frame is sloted so you can not put it in wrong, but you may have to juggle it a bit to get it to sit right.  Under no circumstances remove the paper pickup drive assembly as you can remove the solenoid without removing this part.  Good Luck.
