Recently got a used printer for the office.  As soon as the printer is turned on, it show a 57.4 printer error message followed by 'cycle power to continue.'  Does anyone know about the error message and how to fix it?

The fan on the left side of the printer is not working right. Remove the top cover and the left side cover and see if the fan is turning and if not if just gummed up over the years remove the fan and clean it up to get it spinning again. If that does not work, then the fan will need to be replaced.

Thanks, it worked.  The printer has moved into ready status.  Can I use the 15pin cord to connect to the desktop?

If you mean the parallel cable and your computer has a parallel port, then yes.
