Hi! @Rooster-Grt, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand your printer is asking for the password to access control panel settings.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Is the printer asking for the wireless password or printer control panel password?
Please share the complete printer model name to assist you better.
Please try the steps recommended below and try restoring the printer settings to default and check if it helps.
Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the product and network settings to the factory defaults. It will not reset the page count, tray size, or language. To restore the product to the factory-default settings, follow these steps.
CAUTION: Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the settings to the factory defaults, and it also deletes any pages that are stored in the memory.
1. On the product control panel, touch the Setup button.
2. Scroll to and touch the Service menu.
3. Scroll to and touch the Restore Defaults button, and then touch the OK button.
The product automatically restarts.
If you have issues connecting your printer to the new network try connecting your printer to the network using wireless setup wizard.
If the issue still persists after trying out the steps, Try performing an NVRAM reset on your printer and check if it helps.
Since the steps to perform an NVRAM reset is confidential and dedicated to your printer. I will send you the steps in a private message.
Please watch your inbox for more information.
Also, refer this article to know more information about finding wireless WEP, WPA password on windows.
Let me know if this helps!
Have a pleasant day ahead! 🙂
