Laserjet P1102w used in wireless mode turns off by itself and I have to unplug power cord and plug back in and turn on printer to print. Does this printer turn off if not used after a certain time? Is there a printer setting to eliminate this or is this a faulty printer?

Hi,
Please go thru this HP document, this is because the printer go to sleep mode and doesnt come back on again.....
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02860533
you can turn off the sleep mode by uncheking Automatically turn off device after inactivity option...
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

Thanks for your answer... Actually I did the same but I don't have the same option leterlly.
"Automatically turn off device after inactivity"
I have HP Laserjet P1102W
I can disable the auto turn of by making the dropdown to "Never", but the machine still sleeping (which I couldn't disable ) and dissconnecting from the network!?
Is there any way to prevent the printer from sleeping, or an update for it's driver so I can make the value of "auto sleep" zero?

I had the same problem with the P1102W. You have to plug in the USB cable for the driver options to set correctly. It doesn't like it if the machine is wireless.
So - Plug in the USB. Go to your printer dialog box. Ricght click on the printer and click printer properties. In device settings, select what you like for sleep times and turn autho off to never. That should work.
If you already have auto off to never.. select something else, like 1 hour hit apply then reselect never and hit apply.
That should do it.

As above, I have P1102w. I can set Auto off to never, but the longest "sleep" time is 1 hour. Is there some other way to set sleep at never also? This is a printer out on the floor for the public and this falling asleep is a real problem 😞

As I experienced From my HP 1102W printer, that it will sleep after the time specified, but when you give any printer order either locally or through the network it will wake up, but it will take some time(it varies between few seconds to 2 minutes at max).
I hope you try to give a print and wait for sometime, see if it will printer.

I have the same problem with a user. The user has an HP 8200 elite small form factor computer running Windows 7. The user is connected to the Laserjet 1102w printer via USB cable. The printer goes to sleep and doesn't wake up to print the document. So, what happens is the print job just sits there and doesn't print. It is very frustrating for the user because this person can't print anything unless the printer remains active.
I want to turn off any sleep mode or anything to prevent the printer from going to sleep. I want the printer to remain active and online. I don't want this printer to go to sleep after 1 or 5 hours.

Ive been fighting this for months and still have the same issue. Beside connectivity, a great printer. The wireless functionality makes this the worst.
Only way I have seen this working correctly is if it is plugged in directly by USB to the computer. My mother has the same model and it is plugged in this way - zero issues.
Me, multiple computers at home and none of them can connect and when they do, erroneous errors like a paper jam and there is no paper jammed.

It would be really nice if the HP would reply with a solution to the issue the customer is writing about. HOW DO YOU TURN OFF SLEEP MODE, THIS IS NOT AUTO-OFF. PLEASE ANSWER HOW TO TURN OF SLEEP.
If there is not away, please have the software team add one and then provide a firmware update. Very easy to do you you truly are concerned with your customers.
