laserjet pro m402dn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Laserjet goes to sleep after 8 hours and next day it will not print.  I must shut it down, restart and then sometimes Windows is jammed up so it still will not print.  The printer is on the office  Ethernet connection, and I have reset the address to be found under DHCP, but this has not helped.  I have the most current drivers, firmware, and Windows updates --- All the other messages related to this  problem have not solved my problem.

HP energy setting will not allow the printer to NOT GO TO SLEEP.   Forcing this is not a very good approach to customer requirements, and it will not work in an office environment where many user demand access to a printer any time of the day.

HP should change this on a software update.

this is a tough issue, I've never found a concrete answer to fix it.  with my customers, I've had success with redoing the network settings, (IP, DNS, GATEWAY ETC) and setting it to static IP.  My reason for suggesting reconfigured network settings & static IP is that when the printer is in DHCP, it wants to find an available IP and assign itself.  If the printer is going into sleep mode and somehow dropping the IP its been assigned, perhaps that could be conflicting and causing the printer to never truly wake.

In most cases this is caused by Windows using a WSD port for the printer driver. For reliable operation you should use a TCP/IP port.

When the printer is asleep are you able to access the embedded web server by typing the IP address into a browser.

I'm testing having the printer sink with a network time server once every hour and i have also set the sleep timer to its max value. That is available on my E50145 under the general settings ---> date and time settings. Im hoping that is viewed as port activity that will reset the sleep timer
