I keep getting this printing error, ,anyone know the fix? My printer is a fax, duplex, wireless M477 model Laserjet. Thank you

It means that the first side of a manual duplex job has printed, and the page needs to be loaded to process the second side.   When you see this notice, you load the page in the indicated tray with the side to be printed face up, and the top of the page away from you, and then press the OK button.

Since your machine has automatic duplexing, you should print that way rather than using manual duplexing to avoid having to deal with this, unless you are printing to an odd paper size that automatic duplexing doesn't accommodate.

I'm guessing you thought you *had* everything set up to print duplex automatically, but something isn't set right.  Make sure in the printer properties, under device settings, that "Duplex Unit" is set to "installed," and that when you go to print your document, from whatever software you're using, you've specified to print to both sides of the page.

what should the settings fo r tray 1 and tray 2 be? do you know that? I only have one tray. The fact there are 2 tray options is a little confusing.

You have two trays, even if you think you have only one.  🙂

Look at the front of the printer, and you'll see that the tray that slides in and out is marked with a 2 on the far right.  Tray 1 is the fold out tray above it, with the envelope feeder.

So typically, you'd be using Tray 2 most of the time, and you'd typically set that tray to the paper size and duplexing options you want to use.
