Hello Iapetos1,

Thank you for posting your concern,

If you're experiencing issues printing PDF files from your MacBook Pro (OSX Sequoia) on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477, follow these troubleshooting steps:

1. Update Printer Software and Drivers

  • Check for Driver Updates:
    • Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
    • Download and install any available printer driver updates for macOS.

2. Update macOS

  • Ensure macOS is Up-to-date:
    • Go to "System Preferences" > "Software Update" and check for any available updates. Keeping your OS up to date can fix compatibility issues.

3. Check PDF File

  • Test with Different PDF Files:
    • Try printing a different PDF file to ensure that the issue isn't with the specific file.
    • If only certain PDFs fail to print, there may be file-specific issues.

4. Use a Different PDF Reader

  • Try a Different PDF Viewer:
    • If you’re using Preview, try printing from another PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat Reader. Sometimes the issue can be with the PDF reader itself.

5. Reset Printer System

  • Reset the Printer System on Your Mac:
    • Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners".
    • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list, then choose "Reset printing system". This will remove and re-add the printer.

6. Verify Printer Settings

  • Check Print Settings:
    • Ensure the right printer is selected, and check the printer queue for any paused or stuck print jobs.
    • Verify print settings such as paper size and type, which can sometimes cause issues.

7. Reinstall the Printer

  • Remove and Re-add the Printer:
    • In "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners", select your printer and click the "-" button to remove it.
    • Add it again by clicking the "+" button and selecting it from the list.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider contacting HP Customer Support for further assistance.
